IKEA opened the expanded section of its regional distribution centre in Jarosty (Lodzkie voivodship). The warehouse, which was enlarged by 47,000 m² to now total 150,000 m², is one of the concern’s largest distribution centres globally. The investment started at the end of 2009 and cost about PLN 160m (€35.1m).
The regional distribution centre delivers IKEA’s furniture and interior design products to its stores in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.
IKEA has eight stores in Poland and also operates seven shopping centres and retail parks.
As
Retail Update Poland previously informed, IKEA plans to expand its furniture store chain across Poland as it aims for the entire Polish population of nearly 40 million to be within an hour car drive from an IKEA store, while at the moment that is possible for about six million individuals. The company also has an investment budget designated for the expansion of its existing stores in Poland.
