Furniture sales worth PLN 30bn in 2011
2012-01-05
Revenues from the sale of furniture amounted to about PLN 30bn (€6.67bn) in 2011, of which PLN 27bn (€6bn) came from exports, according to Jacek Twarog, president of The Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers (OIGPM), cited by the PAP press agency. He added that the sales value thus reached a record level, despite tough economic conditions.
Despite higher raw material prices, 2012 should be a period of stabilisation and slight growth in the range of a few percent on the furniture market in Poland, Mr Twarog said. He expects producers to increase exports to new markets, such as the US, Mexico or Brazil. Exports should be aided by a very favourable zloty exchange rage, which is the main factor influencing margins. Nevertheless, a repeat of the growth seen in 2011 will be very difficult as the crisis will continue to impact results.
