Just one in three Poles pays by card
2012-01-16
Despite a large and constantly growing number of payment cards issued, cash remains the most popular form of payment in Poland, a recent study by PMR Research has found.
Sixty-two percent of Poles usually pay with cash for purchases at retailers, while 35% use an account-linked debit card and only 3% pay with a credit card. Payment by card is more frequent at stores offering higher-priced items, such as e.g. clothing and footwear retailers or consumer electronics and household appliances stores, and less frequent at e.g. grocery stores.
