Polskie Jadlo to focus on roadside gastronomy sector
2012-02-13
Restaurant operator and foodstuffs producer
Polskie Jadlo published a new strategy, according to which it intends to dynamically develop its operations in the roadside gastronomy sector. The strategy includes purchasing production facilities and roadside establishments.
Polskie Jadlo wants to acquire one to three small or medium-sized plants producing flour and gourmet meat products, that also have certification for exports. This way, the company is to widen operations and increase production capacity.
Furthermore, Polskie Jadlo wants to purchase roadside restaurants that require modernisation, resell them after revamping along with franchise contracts, and supply them.
According to Polskie Jadlo, the company already operated in the latter so-called operator-proprietary franchise model, and in 2008 it had a net profit of over PLN 12m (€2.8m). However, the financial crisis and resulting conservative bank policies complicated plans.
The strategy includes launching new Pit Stop Bar and Gosciniec Polskie Jadlo roadside establishments, as well as continued exclusive supplying of 96
Lotos petrol stations with mini pierogis under the Pierozkowy Kubek brand, an alternative to hot dogs in that segment.
Polskie Jadlo increased consolidated sales revenues by 207% year on year in Q1-Q3 2011 to PLN 7.1m (€1.7m), while net profit amounted to PLN 1.1m (€260,000), compared to a PLN 1.4m (€332,000) net loss in Q1-Q3 2010.
