Tychy plant to become largest European SABMiller brewery
2006-11-27
Kompania Piwowarska (KP), the largest beer producer in Poland, owned by SABMiller, is expanding its Tychy brewery. As a result the plant’s production capacity is expected to increase to 8 million hl per year. This means that the brewery will become the largest SABMiller facility in Europe, followed by those in Kaluga (Russia), and Poznan.
The Tychy project, which will cost PLN 185m (€48.7m), is expected to be concluded in April/May 2007. The plant’s expansion is part of the company’s PLN 300m (€78.9m) investment programme which commenced in 2005 at its three Polish breweries. As a result of the project, KP’s overall beer output is expected to rise to 15 million hl from the current 12.5 million hl.
