Soft drinks market expected to grow in Poland until 2011

Poles are expected to spend PLN 12.4bn (€3.2bn) on non-alcoholic beverages in 2008, reflecting a 10% year-on-year increase, according to the Euromonitor International research agency, quoted by Rzeczpospolita. The monetary value of the soft drinks market in Poland will increase to €3.5bn in 2009 and to €4bn by 2011 (if prices remain stable).
According to Euromonitor analysts, the growing demand for water and juices is a result of the increasing demand for health food in Polish society. In addition, sales of functional soft drinks and RTD (ready-to-drink) coffee and tea beverages are expected to increase.
In 2007 the most rapid rate of growth in sales of non-alcoholic beverages anywhere in the world was reported in Eastern Europe (9.8%), in contrast to Western Europe, where sales increased by 0.1%.
