The Polish washing machine market is expected to be worth PLN 2.6bn (€540m) in 2012, reflecting 10% growth in comparison with 2008, according to the research agency Euromonitor International, quoted in the newspaper Rzeczpospolita.
In terms of volume the market is expected to grow by 8% during the same period. The more rapid rate of growth in terms of value is a result of increases in demand for more technologically advanced and built-in washing machines, which are more expensive. Poles are also giving more consideration to matters such as energy efficient appliances, which cost more than normal washing machines.
Poland has the most rapidly growing washing machine market in Europe. The overall white goods market was worth PLN 4.5bn (€947m) in 2008, of which PLN 1.3bn (€274m) was accounted for by washing machines. Poland is also one of the leading European producers of washing machines – it manufactures 2.4 million items every year.
