Growth for Zelmer sales despite recession

The sales revenues of
Zelmer, the prominent Polish producer of electronic appliances, increased its sales revenues in Poland by 3.4% to PLN 350.5m (€87.8m), whereas its exports grew by 22% to PLN 153.9m (€38.5m) in 2009. In Russia, Zelmer’s sales increased by 258%, whereas sales in Ukraine grew by 53% year on year. Globally, sales revenues increased by 8% to PLN 504.4m (€126.3m) in 2009.
However, net profit fell by 27% year on year to PLN 18.1m (€4.5m) in 2009.
Company's good sales results may result from a fact, that in 2009, the producer launched the most extensive advertising campaign in its history. It spent PLN 13.3m (€3.3m) on promotion during the period in question, in contrast to PLN 7.7m (€1.9m) in 2008.
Despite the recession on the electronic appliance market, Zelmer’s market share increased by 3 p.p. in Poland to 24.2%. The Polish producer was in third position in the
Central and Eastern European region, with a 6.3% share, in 2009.
In 2010, Zelmer expects a 10% increase in sales revenues in Poland. The company is planning to introduce new products on the market, including built-in equipment.
