2010-07-21
In H1 2010, 247,000 m² of modern retail space was added to the market in Poland, a 42% reduction in comparison with the analogous period of 2009, according to the DTZ agency. During the first six months of 2010, developers completed 11 new projects and expanded eight existing complexes. DTZ analysts expect the modern retail space market to begin to recover in the second half of 2010 and to grow again in 2012. In total, in 2010, there will be 540,000 m² of modern space developed in Poland, whereas in 2009 developers released 720,000 m² of retail space. In 2011, however, the developers will launch around 385,000 m² of new and expanded shopping galleries and shopping centres, and 2012 is expected to bring a further 735,000 m².
The main projects completed between January and June 2010 include Plaza Centers in Suwalki and Zgorzelec, Galeria Jastrzebie in Jastrzebie Zdroj, Metropol Dom i Wnetrze in Warsaw and the second stage of the Port Lodz retail park in Lodz.
