Clothing companies launching new stores in Poland
2010-08-23
After the period of economic stagnation on the market, Polish clothing companies are starting investing again, as reported by Rzeczpospolita. By the way of example, Redan, the operator of Top Secret and Troll, had 185 stores of the latter brands in Poland and 17 in Ukraine by the end of June 2010. By the end of 2010, the group plans to have around 220 establishments in total. The company also manages 179 discount stores under the Textilmarket name. The latter chain is to be enlarged to 200 stores. Moreover, as Retail Update Poland reported on a previous occasion, Redan will launch a new clothing brand under the Drywash name, offering sports clothing.
Also, Inditex, the Spanish group that manages Zara, Bershka and Stradivarius brands, expects to continue its expansion on the Polish market, where it currently manages 106 stores. In 2010, the company has already opened 12 new establishments.
Michal Wojcik, the new chairman of Bytom, the men’s wear producer, also expects to speed up the chain’s development. By the end of 2009, the company had 52 stores and their number is to be doubled within two years.
In turn, Vistula Group, which manages the Vistula, Wolczanka and W.Kruk chains, focuses on closing down its unprofitable locations. Still, the group has intensified openings of its jewellery stores under the W.Kruk name. In 2010, it has already opened five establishments and another five openings are scheduled by the end of the year.
The clothing companies are also developing their online sales. By the way of example, Inditex and H&M plan to launch their e-stores in the near future in some of the Western European countries. It is not yet known, however, when the companies’ online stores will appear in Poland. In turn, Outlet Polska clothing group has decided to set up its e-store in Poland under the City Hell name.
