Zywiec sold less beer in H1 2010 in Poland

Grupa Zywiec, the runner-up on the beer market in Poland in terms of value, posted PLN 1.73bn (€433.3m) of sales revenues in H1 2010, reflecting a 3% decline year on year. By volume, the group sold 5.7 million hl of beer, which is 5.3% less than in H1 2009. Despite the weaker sales, Zywiec’s net profit grew by around 22% year on year to PLN 158.8m (€39.8m).
The brewery does not reveal its financial forecast for the second half of 2010; however, the annual revenues are expected to be at the same level as in 2009 or higher. The sales are to be boosted thanks to an agreement with the Polish Football Association (PZPN) under which Zywiec will become an official sponsor of the Polish National Football Team.
