Eurocash increasing sales and consolidating the market
2010-09-01
Eurocash, one of the largest retail groups in Poland, posted PLN 3.3bn (€825m) of sales revenues in H1 2010, reflecting 3.3% growth year on year, while net profit went up by around 24.4% to PLN 46.9m (€11.5m). The healthy performance is the effect of the consolidation of Batna’s results, a company acquired at the end of 2009.
In addition to organic growth, the group also works on market consolidation. In the first six months of 2010, Eurocash finalised the takeover of a distributing segment of CEDC, the strong spirits producer and signed a preliminary agreement on the acquisition of Pol Cater, a distributor operating in the HoReCa segment.
By the end of June 2010, Eurocash had 121 wholesale facilities, 3,700 abc stores and 505 delicatessen stores under the Delikatesy Centrum name, as well as 88 units of KDWT, a distributor of tobacco goods. In 2010, the number of wholesale stores is to grow by around eight establishments, while the Delikatesy Centrum chain is to be enlarged by 100 stores.
