Alcan, one of the global leaders in aluminium and packaging, has acquired the assets of Parkside's food packaging plant in Zlotow in order to expand and become more competitive in the CEE region. Christel Bories, Alcan Packaging's CEO, said that: "This acquisition will enable us significantly to increase our capability in the attractive Central and Eastern European markets, allowing us to develop a competitive industrial base, from which we can better serve our new and existing customers". The new company, under the name of Alcan Packaging Zlotow, will become part of Alcan Packaging's European Food Division. According to a Euromonitor report, the Polish packaged food market is expected to grow by 14% per year in terms of value over the next five years. Earlier this year Alcan announced that it was investing around €43m to build and equip two factories in Russia. The acquisition of the Zlotow plant is another instance of Alcan's penetration of the eastern European market. |
